Homer goes holy in the latest episode of The Simpsons, as the gang head down to Jerusalem as part of Ned Flander's latest attempt to salvage the soul of the beast. When Ned confesses to Reverend Lovejoy that Homer's (hilarious) antics are starting to get to him, Lovejoy suggests inviting the Simpsons family to accompany Ned's Bible study group on their trip to Jerusalem. Homer refuses, naturally. Marge loves the idea, naturally. And Homer is overruled. Naturally.

The Greatest Story Ever D'ohedThe Greatest Story Ever D'ohed

The pop culture references in "The Greatest Story Ever D'ohed" felt perfect: Homer sings words to Maurice Jarre's timeless theme from Lawrence of Arabia as he (Homer, not Lawrence) wanders across the desert, only to be told by the angelic Veggie Tales that he is the new chosen one. When the gang first touch down in Israel, they see a bona fide fiddler on the roof, who is angrily told to get on with his job. Ned attempts to start his Bible study by "downloading the Holy Tweet of the Lord!" Upon finding out there is no hell in Judaism, Krusty promptly (and happily) enters the Gaza Strip Club. It's all good.

Bart and Lisa make breakfast for Marge’s birthday and take her breakfast in bed.  Homer wakes up and thinks it is his birthday, but then gets caught not knowing it is Marge’s birthday, so he “takes a stroll” to go get her birthday present.

Marge and the family (including Patty and Selma) go to The Singing Sirloin for her 34th birthday dinner.  Bart gets Marge some French perfume (by the jug) and, Lisa makes her a very intricate macaroni card while Homer gets her a bowling ball, even though she has never bowled, with his name inscribed on it.

The Call of the Simpson’s

Season 1, Episode 7

Chalk Board: I Will Not Draw Naked Ladies in Class

The Flanders are always one upping the Simpsons.  While Todd is mowing the lawn on an automatic mower, Bart is pushing an old style mower.  Flanders pulls up in a brand new RV which makes Homer drool.  He asks Flanders how he can afford it, and Flanders tells him good old credit.  Homer takes his family to the RV dealership to buy a brand new, better model than Flanders RV, but his credit is so poor that they can only afford a beat up, POS RV that will break down on them as soon as they drive it off the lot.

Simpson's ClueSimpson's ClueI love the Simpson’s board games.  One of my favorites is the Simpson’s Clue game. I happen to own The Simpson’s Clue, 2nd Edition, which according to Amazon is selling for $105.99, I bought it for $30 when it first came out (I have seen it cheaper than what Amazon is selling it for though, so do look around before you buy it).
